I operated my business under the name of SaltLife Photography beginning in 1980 through late 2011. At that time my business had grown beyond the beach scene, and as I added another photographer to my staff, we changed our business name to BURGESSphotog, keeping our original logo (designed by Ryan Burgess) of the sea turtle aperture. The original reason for taking on the SaltLife name was the familiar lingo I grew up with. Various friends and relatives who lived in coastal communities around the United States, when asked what they've been up to lately, a frequent response was something along the lines of "Oh, you know, been living the salt life" - meaning a life full of work and play in, on, and around marine environments and communities. It was an expression of a lifestyle, and photography was a natural fit into that lifestyle. The photographs in this gallery are a few of those taken with the SaltLife Photography watermark.
